The Cricket Star is Born in Nepal-Dipendra Singh Airee

In T20 international cricket, Nepal’s all-rounder Dipendra Singh Airee achieved a tremendous milestone when he became just the third hitter to hit six sixes in a single over.

The 24-year-old dynamo went on a six-hitting rampage against Qatar at the ACC Men’s T20I Premier Cup in Al Amerat on Saturday, joining the elite club alongside legends Kieron Pollard and Yuvraj Singh.

Yuvraj famously achieved this feat back in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2007 against Stuart Broad, while Pollard joined him just last year, hammering Akila Dananjaya for six sixes in Coolidge.

Airee has experienced cricketing greatness before. With six maximums in an over against Kamran Khan, he enjoyed an incredible start to his career and finished with a blistering 64 off only 21 balls. Not bad for a guy who, having made waves in the 2016 ICC Men’s U19 Cricket World Cup, began his professional career at the youthful age of 17.

But there’s still more! Against Mongolia at the Asian Games the previous year, Airee showed off his skills by hitting six straight sixes. Everyone was in awe of the record-breaking fifty, which broke Yuvraj Singh’s record of the quickest fifty in Twenty20 Internationals, achieved in just nine balls, even though it was spread across two overs.

With less than 50 days remaining before the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, Airee’s outstanding performance couldn’t come at a better time for Nepal. Nepal is in Group D of the competition, which is being held in the Caribbean Islands and the USA. They will go up against difficult opponents including South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and the Netherlands. Nepal’s chances seem better than ever with Airee’s scorching form!
